Terms of Service for Klar

Last updated: 29 June 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Klar app (“Klar”, “the app”, “we”, “us”, “our”). Klar is a voice-driven language-learning app. On the App Store the app is listed as “Klar Speak”. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Klar.

1. Who can use Klar

You must be at least 16 years old to use Klar. By using the app you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

2. Your account

3. The service

Klar lets you build a vocabulary list and practice through voice conversation with an AI tutor. We may add, change, or remove features over time. We may also limit, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service, and we’ll try to give reasonable notice of material changes where practical.

4. Subscriptions, payments, and free usage

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate access if you misuse the service.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the words, definitions, and other content you add to Klar. You grant us a limited licence to store and process that content solely to provide the service to you (for example, saving your vocabulary list and enabling practice). We don’t use your saved content for advertising, and we don’t sell it. See the Privacy Policy for how your data — including the voice audio used during practice — is handled.

You are responsible for what you add to Klar and for what you say to the tutor. You confirm you have the right to that content and agree not to submit anything unlawful, infringing, or harmful. We don’t endorse or pre-screen what you input.

7. AI tutor — no guarantee of accuracy

Klar’s tutor is generated automatically by a third-party AI model. Its output can be incorrect, incomplete, or inappropriate, and we don’t review it before you see it. It is a learning aid, not a substitute for professional instruction, translation, or advice.

Don’t rely on the tutor’s output for high-stakes decisions — including medical, legal, financial, immigration, academic or exam, employment, or safety-critical matters. You are responsible for using your own judgement and for independently verifying anything important with a qualified source.

8. Third-party services

Klar relies on third-party providers to function, including Apple, Google Firebase, and OpenAI. Your use of the app may also be subject to those providers’ terms. We’re not responsible for third-party services we don’t control.

9. Intellectual property

Klar, including its name, design, software, and content (excluding your own saved content), is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works from the app except as allowed by law.

10. Termination

You may stop using Klar and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or misuse the service. On termination, the licence granted to you ends; sections that by their nature should survive (e.g. ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability) continue to apply.

11. Disclaimers

Klar is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the AI tutor’s output will be accurate.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Klar. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including, for consumers in the EU, your mandatory statutory rights).

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Klar after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
